Vivatar DVR 390H

Reading time 1 minute

Vivitar has a new everything-but-the-sink device called the DVR 390H, based around a 20GB hard drive personal media player, but extended by a twisting camera module that adds MPEG4 video, 3.1-megapixel still images, and audio recording abilities. I was about to bag on this all-in-one device until I realized that, well, it’s sort of interesting, really. Even at $700, it’s not much more expensive than a lot of the other PMPs, and if you can throw all that extra functionality on there, why not, right? Soon they’ll make a model with a better lens (this one has no optical zoom) and we’ll be ready to use it instead of tiny DV camera.

Then they’ll put all this in a phone and we’ll use that.
