ExtremeTech gives a very positive review to Syntax’s Olevia TV, a 30-inch LCD flat-panel that can be had for as low as $1,700. While it has a few quirky cut-corners, like only one of the two available inputs accepting progressive scan signals and an oddly sized 15:9 screen, overall it looks like an excellent piece of hardware for the money. If I weren’t so dead set on a DLP projector at this point, I’d certainly consider one myself (the thought of playing games on a 1,280 by 768 pixel 30-inch screen with 16ms response time is very appealing).
Oh, and you can remove those 10-watt speakers from the side if you aren’t using them, too, which will make it even more space-saving.
