This has been out for awhile, but the Griffin PowerMate is too weird and interesting a gadget to pass up. It’s ostensibly a glorified external volume knob that plugs into a USB port, but a review over at MacNETv2 reveals that it’s far more than that:
Griffin Technology invented this device some time ago, and it’s a device that continues to offer more and more in terms of functionality with each software upgrade. It’s touted as a Volume Knob (albeit the coolest volume knob you can buy) but the truth is something very different. Once you get over the fact that this so-called volume knob is actually a programmable ‘anything’ knob you begin to explore the uses and get sucked into the whole ‘PowerMate’ world, and before you know it you too are searching versiontracker looking for new hacks for the PowerMate.
