Korea-based iAudio (whose products sell in the West under the Cowon and JetAudio brands) has released a new flash MP3 player model, the U2, which is slightly smaller than a lighter, but is still available in sizes up to one gigabyte. All the other goodies we’ve come to expect from flash players are there, too (FM receiver and recording, USB 2.0, irritating burning sensation), and still the U2 manages a (claimed) 20 hour battery life — rechargeable battery, that is, not AAA like many other flash players.
Looks okay! I’ve been very cool on flash players, having been disappointed by so many for so long, but they are getting very usable and very useful now that storage sizes have gotten affordable. At $350 it’s still spendy compared to hard disk players, but come on; the thing isn’t much bigger than many players’ in-line displays.
