Archos continues to refine their ‘big brick’ design, to a point it almost looks … cool. (I know!) The AV500, another CeBIT showing, is a portable video player as well as a PDA, with a 704 by 480 screen and 20 or 40GB hard drive. Dual USB2.0 ports and swappable connectivity cards (with Ethernet, WiFi, Bluetooth, GSM and more as options) make the AV500 a hot number, and its more modern casing is far removed from the clunky blue rubber look of early Archos devices, which had all the flair of geriatric bathtub safety equipment. [Thanks, Daniel!]
