Watching movies on your iPod seems like a waste of time - until you spend three hours at the airport waiting for your flight or (worse) are subjected to the airlines' paltry choices en route. Of course, you could always read a book or listen to music (your iPod's original purpose), but it's nice to have the option.

capateto

I'm afraid that the movie studios will cripple any success that Apple would have with this. The price is pretty much guaranteed to be too high for the type of early adopters who this would appeal to. But here's hoping that I'm wrong!

angelp

So this is about parents downloading movies for the kids to watch in the car on a road trip. I guess we should expect some sort of video device that fits this description on the 12th then.

SharpieFiend

$9.99 a movie? For that price, they better allow you to keep a record online and re-download it if you lose your copy.

El Guano

Toy Story 3 has been off-and-on for two years now. First they were going to do it without Pixar, then that was scrapped. And at the most recent Comic-Con, Tim Allen said it was back on, and that he and Tom Hanks would be doing the voices.

But does this mean it'll be straight-to-video? And if it's a release title, doesn't that mean it's pretty much completed by now? I'm so confused!

KurticusMaximus

Let's not be too hard on them, it's their first swing, and there are a handful of solid movies in that list apart from the animated stuff.

XSteveMurphy

Brilliant. Oh wait, I forgot that Apple isn't supposed to make money, but rather pander to the hippest of the hip, forgoing profits and mass appeal for coolness, all so it's products can become a source of cult flicks and indy films. Disney is a brilliant move sure to gain further recognition andbuy-in from parents (even 8 year olds are begging for an iPod of their own). If it's successful, Jobs will add a wider range of films. If it flops, then he has lost very little.

Hammy

I find it interesting that many places say "why would I want to watch it on my iPod". The reality is that I watch shows that I download on my TV(by way of my iPod). If any of the rumors have any bite to their bark, we may get to stream to our sets. Sure, you'll have the crabs that say it "ain't high def". I don't know that will matter to the millions that have downloaded TV content already. I do know that if Apple makes it... it will work and it will be easy to use. That's good enough for me.

evophoto
