At the Interactive Television Emmy Awards, TiVo will be taking home the hardware for Outstanding Achievement in Enhanced Television Programming. The PVR software and hardware developer beat out all the other finalists in that category, including AOL Music on Demand, CNN Enhanced and DirecTV Interactive Sports.
"TiVo was the very first offering in the DVR space and it is great that they are still leading the way," said Brian Seth Hurst, Governor of the Television Academy's Interactive Media Peer Group. "The TiVo service is certainly impressive in both its offering and user experience and meets the standard of excellence. It's easy to see why the voters deemed it worthy of the Emmy."The awards will be presented on Saturday, August 19. Well-deserved, TiVo. Well done.

Tivo deserved an Emmy in 1998 with series 1, which was quite possibly the best version 1.0 tech product ever made.
They have stumbled ever since in keeping the product relevant.
I have used dual-tuner HDTV PVR's from my cable companies (Comcast and Cablevision) for two years, and although they both have pluses and minues, the dual-tuners, lossless video recording, and dolby digital sound for the same price as a monthly TiVo subscription (MINUS hardware cost and phone line connections), make the cable offering a no-brainer.
My two TiVo series 2's just gather dust.
Nitpicking, I know, but as a ReplayTV owner one must represent! IIRC, Replay beat Tivo to market, and to my knowldege Tivo didn't start 'leading the way' until Replay pretty much died with the 5000 series.
