Apple has temporarily disabled access to its iTunes Music Store, greeting would-be users with its now famous tag line, "It's Showtime." It looks like reports that today's special media event having something to do with had some truth to them after all. Only a few hours to go until that "one more thing" (not that we might not already know exactly what's going to happen anyway)!
iTunes [Apple]

the apple store site itself is still up as i am typing this
I don't remember when they have traditionally taken the store.apple.com site down before shows like this; but it seems likely to me that it would have already. So perhaps we will ONLY be seeing iTunes announcements; and not much at all by way of new hardware.
Am I missing something? The Today show this morning was even reporting that later today Apple will announce the availability of movies through iTunes. Doesn't sound like any movie cats left in that bag.
Did anyone notice that the "Music" is no longer in the iTMS. *Big Eyes* I guess our wonderfur Gizmodo is correct thus far. I just want the phone!
This has hit the mainstream media pretty hard so Apple obviously put out some sort of press release or purposely leaked the right info to the right people. Regardless I am more interested in how many movie studios are going to play with iTunes - it's no announcement at all if it's just Disney and Pixar, that is a given!
Not sure yet if I am excited about a new touchscreen iPod either now that I will be the proud owner of a (now) obsolete iPod Video.
Ho hum...
Check the lower left corner... "Transporter" and "Red Eye".

Even if we all know that this new announcement will be for USA only, the Italian iTunes stores is down too.
bah!
http://store.apple.com is down now. I take it all back; maybe they will have hardware!
WTF- My iTunes connected automatically to a play list stream by Jennifer Elin Hugo. Who is Jennifer Elin Hugo and why should I care?
Ok, has the Pixies- she can't be all that bad.
