Evolution of the Sidekick Flip From the 3, iD, LX to the Slide

As part of the Slide review process, Benny G and I just made this super-quick video of all four recent models: Sidekick 3, Sidekick iD, Sidekick LX and Sidekick Slide. What will you notice? Changes in flip action, changes in the flip sound effects, and remarkable difference in screen brightness and clarity. But one question, Motorola: if you're so cool building the Sidekick Slide, how come you didn't put a slide-open sound effect? I'll be sure to follow up on that mystery. [T-Mobile Sidekick]

Like the Helio Ocean, the Sidekick 3 and Sidekick ID can both get Opera Mini working as a browser. The caveat is that you have to be a Java programmer in the developer community. [Hiptop3]

Even though you've seen the official announcement, the unboxing, and even its guts splayed out for the sake of fashion, you're still not satisfied. Why? Clips: Replacing the Color Casing on the Sidekick ID

John Biggs, over at Crunchgear, is smarter than the average bear. He has always figured out how to replace the color bumpers and did something truly wacky (just watch and see). From his and our initial impressions, it seems that this phone is a definite option for the cheap texting fiend. More »

Unboxed: Our Shots of the Sidekick iD

Last night, we told you T-Mobile was launching the Sidekick iD. This morning, the FedEx man delivered it unto us. Our unselfish first thought was to take a lot of pictures of it and post them for you to check out. But, before you click for the gallery, let's recap: More »

Sidekick ID Official From T-Mobile

The Sidekick ID is unveiling itself soon, and here's confirmation on a lot of what the speculation is about. The Lite version of the Sidekick 3 drops the MP3 player, Bluetooth, camera, and costs only $99 bucks. (Half the price). The same Web, mail, messenger client for AIM, Yahoo!, and Messenger. It's roughly the same size, but it gains about a +1 hour of talk and a few days of standby since it doesn't have the same hardware soaking power. And check out those colors. More »

Sidekick ID Found in the Wild

Which Sidekick-whoring, former Gizmodo editor landed himself a fancy, new sidekick a bit early? Rumor has it that this device may be the Sidekick ID, at least according to what we have seen in the past. Who knows, but a little birdie says that the review will be coming soon, so keep your eyes peeled. More »

More Sidekick ID Leaks: Colors and More!

T-Mobile and others are having a hell of a time keeping their traps shut about the Sidekick ID. A rebate form was found on the T-Mobile website that had some more information about this new, nerfed Sidekick. First and foremost, it will be available in a variety of colors (obviously from the picture). It will also have a $50 mail-in-rebate (making the final price $100) and an April 18ish release date. You know, this Sidekick ID isn't looking too bad. More »

New Sidekick ID Image: Oopsie!

A funny thing happened to me the other day walking by the UT Starcom booth this CTIA—I noticed they had the unreleased, unannounced, secret Sidekick ID plastered across their booth, four-feet wide. UT Starcom, manufacturer of phones for companies like Danger and their Sidekick/Hiptop had covered it up a day later with a can of black Krylon (coincidentally, the same technology we'll be using to upgrade my white XBox 360 to Elite status). But not before I got two side-by-side shots, with help from Vincent at Slashgear.com. The little Sidekick 3, or Sidekick 2.5, as Vince at Crunchgear dubbed it when they showed us picture number one, is rumored to be without the Bluetooth, MP3 Player, camera or microSD slot. What's left the same, judging from the sad cover-up attempt above, is the screen and keyboard. More »

Leaked: T-Mobile Sidekick ID, the Nerfed SK3

The scoop-hunting hounds over at CrunchGear were leaked the first photo and details about the Sidekick ID, which is like a Sidekick 2.5, or a nerfed and cheaper version of the Sidekick 3. It shares a similar form factor with the other SKs, but will possibly lack Bluetooth, the MP3 player, digital camera or microSD support. It still includes the familiar operating system by Danger that includes IM and all of the other goodies. More »
