It looks a more serious and slender beast than the first two, and sports a five megapixel camera, tempered glass and a carbon-fiber finish. Other than that we can't say much, as LG is being shy with the details: though I'm sure they'd call it "teaser marketing". More data will be available at its European April 24th launch. We'll keep you posted. [Aving]

<![CDATA[ LG Shine Arrives on AT&T ]]> lg_shine_l.gifLG's shine has finally made it to the States in actual Shine form—as opposed to the Verizon flip version—and you can get yours for only $149 and two-year contract. We showed you what the phone looked like with our spy shots, but the above image is a closer (non-blurry) look at the phone before you buy it. To refresh, it's got a 2-megapixel camera and Bluetooth 2.0. [AT&T]

<![CDATA[ LG Shine Wood (Not Actually Made of Wood) ]]> The LG Shine Wood LG-LB2500H, by all logical reason, should be made of wood. And while the Wood does sport a fine wood grain, users will be saddened to realize that no trees were killed in the making of this phone or its painted visage.

Other than that, this Korea-only phone sports goodies you will never be worthy of (like DMB television, an electronic dictionary and the near-magnetic attraction of pretty Korean models).

<![CDATA[ AT&T LG Shine Spy Shots ]]> Our tipster didn't give us many details on this, but apparently the LG Shine—previously seen in flip-version on Verizon—is heading to AT&T. No real details here other than it's coming (including whether it's this black finish), but check out our previous Shine coverage to see if you're interested.

<![CDATA[ LG Shine Gets All Moody & Sexy ]]> LG are set to add to their ever-popular Black Label Series by releasing the LG Shine in a new, sulky Titanium Black finish. To save any confusion at the checkout they're releasing this model as the 'LG Shine Titanium Black.'

The feature set remains unchanged from the original and it is planned for release at the end of July 2007. Initially it will be made available within the UK, France, Netherlands and Austria (no stateside plans yet).

The Shine used to prance about like Paris Hilton, driving too fast and pissed with the ramifications. The new makeover, however, wouldn't batter an eyelash at a stretch inside; instead it would take down the system and look suave doing it. [Product Page Via MobileMentalism]

<![CDATA[ Verizon's LG VX8700 Reviewed (Verdict: A Decent and Shiny Multimedia Phone) ]]> lgvx8700i.jpgEven though we weren't that impressed with what was under the beautiful exterior of the LG Shine, Mark at Laptop Mag seems to like its brother, the VX8700, a bit more. He points out that it's definitely the sexiest V CAST phone on Verizon, even beating out the chocolatey VX8600.

They thought the video recording with 320x240 resolution at 15fps was decent enough, and the V CAST streaming over EV-DO was good as well. The phone needs to be recharged every other day, which is short for a phone that doesn't offer that much in the way of features. All in all it's a pretty sexy phone that's good for the crowd who cares more about how the phone looks than how many extra features the manufacturer can cram inside.

<![CDATA[ Fake LG Shine: the Diamond KG70 Shine ]]> LG isn't very happy about the Shine knock-offs that have been floating around, issuing cease and desist letters to manufacturers. But that isn't stopping the sale of the Diamond KG70 Shine (yet).

Priced around $100, the Diamond is a spitting image of the Shine. Everything from the QVGA screen to the silver finish will fool your friends into thinking you spent too much on your phone. Plus, late/cheap adopters will score a MicroSD slot for additional storage.

You can hit the link and order your own online, but I prefer to buy my knock-offs the old fashioned way: from a shady dealer on the street who stores inventory in a garbage bag. As a bonus, you might get mugged!

Jumbo picture after the jump.

<![CDATA[ LG Shine Goes Candybar, Probably Still Meh ]]> shinebar.jpgIf our hands-on with the LG Shine slider was any indication, this Shine Bar may be a phone only fashionistas will pine for. The KE770 is only 9.9mm thick (compared with the 14mm of the regular shine) and has a 320x240 display, a 2-megapixel camera with auto-focus, Bluetooth, 50MB internal storage, microSD slot, and pretty much the same styling we've come to expect from the Shine label.

Although the regular Shine didn't make it over here, the flip version did, which probably makes the chances about 50/50 that we'll be seeing this as well.

<![CDATA[ LG VX8700 Launched on Verizon: Good News ]]> vz8700-proofs-3-sm-1.jpgWhat timing. Yesterday, I reviewed the LG Shine long enough to give it a thumbs down. Today, Verizon launched the LG VX8700, the flip version of the same Shine with the same 2MP camera with design to die for and boring OS. The two share DNA, yet this one is worth considering. It's all about context.

Next to the other clamshells and LG's crappy Chocolate phone, the LG VX8700 looks like valedictorian in a class of special-ed kids. So consider it welcome relief from drudgery if you're sticking with Verizon.

Stats:

Verizon's setup also has EVDO data, Bluetooth, 240 x 320 pixel screen, a 3 line external monitor, and Verizon's location based services (for a fee, of course.)

<![CDATA[ My 24 Hours with the LG Shine: Shiny and Sucky ]]> I apologize for all the buzz on the mirror-faced LG Shine over the last few months. Across the Internet, it looked good. At CES, when I touched it, it looked good. I have a LG Shine here, and after spending a day with it, I've decided that it really is gorgeous (see the pics). And that it sucks. Let me name the ways.

Screen: Sucks. it's a mirrored screen. Unless in total dark, what you have is goddamn glare.

Slide: There are two places to put your finger when you slide this phone up. On the rolling knob, which your thumb will undoubtedly slip on. Or the mirrored finish. Your call, slip or smudge.

Battery Life:
Sucks. It must take a lot of battery to blast light through that one-way tinted mirror top.

Case:
Nice. What? You thought I was going to just bash the Shine the whole post? The case is gorgeous, but the phone isn't as small as I'd like.

Music playback:
Great. The UI for playback includes a EQ, and the built-in speakers are great, too. The otherwise annoying roll-bar is great for getting through long lists of songs. Good job, LG.

But there's more bad.

Keypad:
Just like a RAZRs. They're almost asking to be sued.

UI:
Mixed. On the main screen, nothing is labeled well. The main menu's screens work like a charm, though.

Browser:
Sucks. Doesn't render anything well.

Extras:
It can read PowerPoint files, and I'm assuming XLS and DOC files, too. Whoop de Do.

Camera:
It's freaking good. Ain't no Carl Zeiss in a Nokia, but it's not bad at all. There's a strong LED flash and the 2MP shooter even has white balance, and autofocus.

It's not so much that it sucks as that it is an expensive but mediocre phone. Which means you should pass if you care about handsets. The software and functionality are just "ok" while being packed in a shell that looks glorious.

So, don't sweat the fact that this phone isn't Stateside. You're not missing anything. Just take your average high-end phone and slap a makeup mirror onto its top. There you go. Shiny cellphone.

<![CDATA[ LG VX8700 Official for Verizon ]]> lgshine8700.pngThe LG VX8700 Shine flipper gets official for Verizon, as we saw before. It's a part of the Shine family—the daddy Shine isn't making it to the states—but the entirely-covered-in-steel baby is. We're much more excited for Prada and Prada-like phones from LG, but some people love the Shine.

<![CDATA[ LG Shine's Cousins Flip, Get Dipped in Gold ]]> LG's popular Korean phone, the Shine, has not only been updated already, there's now two new versions planned for an eventual release. The first, a gold-dipped hedonistic version, should ship for Korea's CDMA networks first before (possibly) heading everywhere else with a GSM version.

The second, a flip-phone version of the Shine, looks to be in production sometime soon as well. Too bad for us, there's still no word on when any of these Shine editions—Au or not—will make its way to the states.

Update: The flip version seems to be headed to Verizon in July. Thanks MacVicta!

<![CDATA[ LG Already Updates Shine: Looks The Same, But Adds HSDPA and VGA Camera ]]> shine2.jpgLG is already hard at work making the next version of the , the KU970. While the exterior will remain as Shiney as ever, LG adds 3G HSDPA and a VGA camera. LG has also bumped the internal storage capacity to 512MB. Other than that, it's the same Shine that we still don't have here. At this point, I'd rather LG just skip over the Shine and send us some Prada love. I hear the devil wears that nowadays.

Whether or not LG's Prada phone will run Windows Mobile 6 or not, you can't deny that it's a pretty damn sexy phone. Heck, the same could be said for the LG Shine as well. Here's a high quality gallery of the LG Shine and Prada phones.

<![CDATA[ LG Shine Makes its Video Debut ]]>
The girls at Shiny Shiny are still pink in the face after a quick rendezvous with LG's sexy, silvery Shine. Despite the phone's smudge-able looks, they found the Shine to be pretty resistant to fingerprints and scratches. The phone's spinning scroll wheel, located on its midriff, is also intuitive despite suffering from a bit of lag. Among the few things they didn't like were the phone's buttons, which they felt coulda been spaced out better. Otherwise, the Shine is building quite a Cassanova-like rep in the world of mobiles.

<![CDATA[ Gizmodo Gallery: Hands-On with the LG Shine ]]> We just got a chance to get our greasy thumbprints all over the sexy new LG Shine, and as you can see by the photos, it's gorgeous. Extremely thin and light yet solid feeling, it feels great in the hand and doesn't suffer from the cheap-feeling issues that plagues other stylish phones like the RAZR. Sadly, this guy is staying in Korea, with LG keeping mum on any plans they might have to float it over to our shores. Get with the program, LG. This thing would be huge if they sold it here.

<![CDATA[ LG Shine Heading to Europe, US ]]> lgshine.jpgLG's shiny metallic slider, the Shine, is finally heading toward the States some time in '07. Part of its "Black Label" series of phones, which includes the Chocolate, the Shine features a 2-megapixel camera, a scroller, Bluetooth and MP3 playback. The Black Label, by the way, is a fancy way of saying "this is a pretty phone that doesn't really have a lot of features."

There's both CDMA and GSM versions planned, so it's up in the air whether Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile or Cingular will get it first. Our guess is on Verizon, seeing as LG's got a pretty good working relationship with them already.

<![CDATA[ LG Shine Cellphone Sports Shiny Metal Body, Silly Name ]]> LG already has the "cellphones with stupid names" market corned with the Chocolate, but now it hopes that the Shine will do just as well, if not better. Part of the company's "Black Label" series of pseudo fancy cellphones, the Shine packs a 2-megapixel camera and 1GB of onboard storage space; presumably, you'll be able to add to the storage with the use of memory cards. As the picture so plainly shows, the body is of the shiny metal variety, giving a sort of brushed metal effect that Apple loves to tack onto its applications nowadays. The Shine is also able to set user-recorded video and set it as the wallpaper. Nifty.

If the Chocolate can make it stateside, I don't see why we won't see Shine sometime in the future. LG, just let it ship with a certain buttery beat as a ringtone (think "Shinin'" from Lumines), and this will be a hit.
