Screw You RFID!

rfid_pocket-1.jpg

Some people bug out hardcore over privacy concerns. I can see how it's justified in certain situations, but I really doubt RFID is the next hidden tracking device for consumers...as of right now. Anyways, if you're really paranoid, you could make like Mike Sklar and built a faraday cage around the pocket. What the hell is a faraday cage you ask? That's what wikipedia is for. Anyways, it's simple to make one by ripping out a pocket in your jeans or khakis and replacing it with a soft material with a conductive metal inside it. This will keep those nasty RFID tags from being read and your privacy intact.

  • "This will keep those nasty RFID tags from being read and your privacy intact." read: "This will keep those nasty FRID tags from being read, allowing you to easily steal shit with RFID tags built in"

  • Do you think these conductive cloths used in such a way as to circumvent/disable an rfid might someday be a violation of the dmca? Hummm... I better stock up on this stuff now.

  • How does this affect cell phones? At least this looks better than my tinfoil hat.

  • Ya, you don't need to wear a tin foil hat to be afraid of this crap. They just came out with a patent to read the rfid tags in your garbage so they can track your purchase when someone picks up your trash can on the street. Does that sound paranoid?

  • Now this is a perfect opp for somebody to bring out a nice little wallet with a lining of fine copper mesh. Invisible RFID protection! - Actually probably a neat trick for shoplifters too :-(
