Sansa e260 MP3 Player Reviewed (Verdict: The Alterna-Nano)

sansareview.jpgOur pal Dave from Mobility Today has a video review of the Sansa e260 MP3 player, a PMP that's possibly better than the iPod Nano. It could just be Dave's gigantic Asian-martial-arts trained hands, but the Sansa looks tiny. The Sansa is a little thicker than the Nano, but the same in height and width.

Some things of note, the jog dial, a wall charger (included), a larger and brighter/more vibrant screen than the Nano, expandable memory slot, voice recording, Fm radio and video support.

Check out the video review for a thorough demonstration of all the Sansa's features.

  • According to the video review the wall charger is, in fact, *NOT* included. It only has USB charging like the nano.

  • Fixed. I could have sworn he said it was included, but I hear "I wish one of the things..." now. That'll teach me not to blog in the shower.

  • Well i hate ipods and this BETTER player is a reason.

  • This model, or one very much like it just landed at my store. (Rad Shmack) The first two sold immediately, and the next shipment already has one spoken for. It's a nice looking piece, the feature set looks great. Heck, I almost bought one myself!

  • Video reviews are nice. BUT - it seems the reviewer didnt give it a nice "once over" before he actually shot it. He says the words "actual", traditional" and several other words very often and sometimes twice in a senstence. He also nearly forgot to mention what the microSD slot was for - not that most people would not know this, though, he was abotu to change the view of the unit, and then paused, and popped in with that info just before moving on. Over all, not bad. Though, its funny that its called a video PODCAST, when in fact its not a pod player to begin with. Just symantics here, but since I am knitpicking, what the hell.

  • Isn't it interesting that the company that's astroturfing an anti-iPod campaign has 'designed' an MP3 player that looks remarkably as if there should be an Apple icon on it somewhere? But what I really want to know is this: at the end of the day when I'm ready to add a newly ripped CD and a few tracks I've bought at a PlaysForSure site, will the tracks get onto the device and play without three attempts and a reboot?

  • A pretty good review, overall. I own a Sansa m260 (the AAA-powered, ugly one), and I'll have to say that it's the best MP3 players I've used so far; I used to have a Shuffle, and used my friend's Nano before. It also sported FM radio, as well as the ability to record it and do voice-recordings. The addition of video features and a nice, vibrant screen is very appealling (not to mention a very nice body to boot). If this e260 model's integration with Windows Media Player is just as seamless as it is with my m260, this is definitely a good bang for the buck. I'm also wondering if it's also possible to drag and drop MP3's directly from a folder to the player. Expandable memory is always a good thing, too! From a usability stand-point, I can only assume that Sansa stuck with the same music transfer system as their previous products, as it is a very efficient, practical way of doing so. By the way, I aside from the battery issue of my ol' Sansa m260 (I bought a battery charger to remedy this), I absolutely love it and will probably be staying with this brand (via this featured player) for a long time to come.

  • holy actual shit, could he actually use "actual" any more than he actually already did.
