Samsung YP-T9 MP3 Player Unboxed: 2GB of Flash, Video, and Music

After writing about the Samsung YP-T9, we were eager to see how the 2GB player stacked up against the reigning iPod Nano in a flash-based face off. After our unboxing, which you can see below, we did our comparison.

The T9 has voice recording, FM, flash games, and is shorter and thicker than the Nano. The Nano, on the other hand, has the less buttons and an easier control scheme. Then again, the T9 has a gorgeous screen, but unfortunately, it has too many buttons.

The Samsung player definitely more feature-rich, but packing on more features only appeals to people who want those features. And in this case, voice recording and FM radio fall lower on the ladder than a clickwheel and iTunes support.

  • I love this player.

`Been using it for 3 months now and I love everything about it.

If you have the player... Don't forget to download the updated software on the Samsung website.

By the way, Giz... You forgot to mention VIDEO. Why compare the devices if you aren't gonna at least put that on the table?

  • Sorry for the double post... Just wanted to say I love Gizmodo... Don't sack me.

  • i4ni....your sack will be pwned by my foot if you kiss up to the giz in another push post.

    jk.

the YP-T9 is a beautiful player, I've been dreaming of owning one ever since the FCC approved the T9B, and the only reason i'm not getting it is I want something with SD expansion(stormblueA9+, or PSP with SD card kit)

  • Dunno, I'm still holding out for the Zune, hope Santa got the hint already.

  • sweet! it looks like one of their SGH-series phones...now you can have a matching phone and mp3 player. There isn't any other company that's got a good chunk of both markets, is there?

  • I love my Samsung Z5 and that really makes me want to play around with one of these, I just can't justify upgradign at the moment.

  • I've been an admirer of this sleek little player for a while now. Any comment or validation of the processor speed, namely how fast is the player when scrolling through a list of songs?
