The iPod company and the shoe company are partnering together to make your workout easier and more fun. Nike's new footwear, the Moire, tracks information during your run such as distance, time, speed, and calories burned. The iPod Sport Kit allows you to view the workout data from your shoe in real time, not after your workout is over.
There's even a voice that speaks the data to you so you won't have to look at your iPod. And after the workout, upload the information to your computer to keep track of your progress. We hate running as much as we love ice cream, but this would actually make us exercise.

That's actually pretty cool. If I ever get off my lazy butt and decide to get back in shape I might have to pick that up.
video demos at nikeplus.com... very cool, I think this just might get me off my ass.
But will it use foul language, yell at me and stink. Until then, coaches are safe. It's just cheaper to teach coaches the lyrics to your favorite songs. They can yell them at you through the megaphone. I wonder if Apple will provide this technology for child laborers, perhaps in gloves that the children can wear at Nike plants. Why give them a break if they haven't burnt enough calories.
I can really use this since I just jumped on working out/dieting this week......I MISSED HONEYCOMB CEREAL! :(
"receiver on your iPod" -- interesting. Think it's BT? Think this is a sign that BT will be included sometime soon on new iPods?
it takes more than a whatever-pod and a pair of pricey shoes to make me excercise.
It may be BT, but not build into the iPod. It comes with a receiver that connects to the dock. See http://www.apple.com/ipod/nike/run.html
I can't wait to see what kind of voice they use. New Yorkers" I bet they use the "Please stand clear of the closing doors" guy. Can't you see him saying "You have run 1.2 miles. Lets get this party started, lets get it started in here. No, no, no, don't phunk with my heart. You have a heart-beat of 81 beats per second"
Black Eyed Peas will be doing the voices for it - F'n sellouts.
Holy Crap! They filmed this in Downtown Portland where I live! I recongnize the buildings and the bridge. The bridge leads to the Rose Garden where the Blazers plays. I'm getting a pair when my shoes "run" out. :D
Why no support for the 5G? Will it work with the 5G? It seems to explicitly mention the nano at every turn, but is that only because they want you to buy only special Nike shirts with nano pockets for your work-out clothes? This interests me tremendously, but I don't have a nano, and I doubt I'll buy one any time soon.
"The sensor's battery is not replaceable. Battery life will vary considerably based on use and other factors." What is it with apple and the obsolescence? The impression I get is that it's not even rechargeable.
