Sennheiser Launches Style Line Headphones

sennheiser.jpgSennheiser no longer wants the iPod generation to settle for shoddy, horribly constructed headphones, so it's coming out with the Style Line, a line of headphones designed to, you guessed it, introduce "style" and decent sound to the usually underwhelming world of iPod-cenric headphones. There will initially be three members of the Style Line family, the MX 90 VC Style, the OMX 90 VC Style and the LX 90 Style. Just as with the rest of Sennheiser's headphones, users can expect above average sound quality and fairly sturdy construction.

The MX 90 VC Style are the Cadillac of the bunch, with a price of about $69.95. Its biggest "golly gee" feature is twist to fit, which allows users to adjust the shape so it easily—and comfortably!—fits inside the ear.

Next down the line is the OMX 90 VC Style, around $89.95. Aluminum bows allow easy height adjustment. Plus, there's a built-in volume control on the cable.

Finally, for the penny pinchers out, there's the LX 90 Style, $79.95. It comes with a self-configuring headband that makes for easy adjustment around your big egghead. Will these in-ear 'phones give some of the fancier boys a run for their money? Sennheiser certainly hopes so.

  • Hmmm...so now I can look stylish while I'm in a mismatched pair of exercise shorts and trashy T-shirt, working out at the gym and listening to my iPod as sweat bounces off the belt on the treadmill? I think I'll keep my Shure E5Cs, thanks!

  • Yeah, but are you going to use your $500.00 shure's for a gym workout and do your ipod ear phones stay in place while working out? If the Senn's have decent sound for the price and why wouldn't they from a company that produces the excellent PX-100's and the promising canal cx-300's, I'd say they'll have more uses than just for the gym. If my Koss KSC75's stayed on while working out and my ear buds and canal phones didn't also keep falling out, I'd be using one or all of them at the gym, but with these new Senn's I'd be willing to give this twist to fit concept a chance in hopes that they'll stay in. I'll rather keep the higher audio stuff for less physical activities. Besides, it's about time that the manufacturers of players start to sell them with better earbuds/phones than the crap they are trying to pass off right now!

  • I did a quick comparison with friends with different stripes of workout-worthy ear-gear. Bottom line- the new neck-wrap version of the Sennheisers had the best bass and was most likely to stay on your head in the event of a spill. Everything else was tinny and/or junk. So far I have run, yak'd, and biked with the Sennheisers (don't remember the model number and don't care, but they're bright green). They have stayed on my head and don't distort at high volume. 'nough said.
