NVIDIA is stepping up to the next level in the graphics card wars, set to announce its latest weapons, the Geforce 7900GTX (pictured above) and its slightly less-capable sibling, the Geforce 7900GT. The GTX core runs at 650MHz while its memory zips along at 1600MHz. By comparison, the lesser GT has a 450MHz core speed and its memory runs at a respectable 1320MHz. They both have 256-bit memory but the GT holds 256MB while the GTX is packing 512MB.
The GTX has truly impressive specs, with a total bandwidth of an astonishing 51.2GB per second. The only downside is its 120-watt power consumption, and if you hook it up in an SLI system with two or four cards, you're drawing just about as many amps as your oven does on Thanksgiving Day. The Geforce 7900 GTX will run between $499 - $649, while the Geforce 7900 GT will be $299.

$299 is quite reasonable for the GT model. However, I am one of the seemingly dying breed that prefers PC gaming over console gaming.
I am also in your boat. Unfortunately, while I DO own a ps2, the only time I play it is when I have company over that wants to enjoy some ESPN 2k5 or a little Burnout:Revenge. Other than that. Pure Pc Carnage. But we are a dying breed. and I'll tell you why... $499 - $649 Its too costly to be nostalgic
Note to NVidia: I won't buy your products *because* the all use integral fans. These components do not last through 24x7x365 use and inevitably need to be replaced far too often (for some reason, video card fans are of very poor quality). ATI has a wide selection of cards that use passive heat sinks. Since these never fail, I'll happily keep on buying ATI's products.
Gotta agree with the issue with integrated fans. I've replaced my fans in my SLI rig with Zalman VF700s. Heaps quieter and much more reliable. There's no way you're going to passively cool 120 Watts of power.
i bought new computers a couple of weeks ago and now i have purchased a nvidia gforce 8300 gs video card and a nvidia gforce 7300 video card are these ok to run with vista
