I gotta admit, the MacBook Lightsabre was pretty cool, but the SmackBook is even cooler, and actually useful. This little mod utilizes the motion sensor to swap between desktops on the MacBook. The sensor was originally included in the MacBook to protect the hard drive against hard drops and falls, but the SmackBook is definitely more useful. Just don't smack the MacBook too hard. Check out all of the instructions for your own smacking over at the medallia blog.

ahhhh, sweet inspiration. Now that is cool and actually useful
That is the coolest thing Ive seen!
I bet that this becomes a standard form of interface. For Me, it looks like it would work better than Expose. It makes me want to shout, "Who's your daddy, whose your...", smack. I'll just have to wear a wife-beater when I type.
great little mod, but the creators instructions can use a LOT of work. Be prepared for a lot of terminal fun until a app is created.
Holy crap. That's genuinely cool. Just don't get too... enthusiastic.
What's next bluetooth foot pedals? While necessity may be the mother of invention, spare time is definitely its daddy.
I've got a chubby...
playing with it a bit, unless you can find a way to turn down the sensitivity of the motion sensor, its actually kinda useless. My typing was setting it off, and I dont quite type that hard, and forget about moving around with it.
it's the new ikeBook and ikeBook pro!
I suspect that in many user environments; i.e. sitting the computer on your lap, on the bed, or even on an unstable airline tray, this motion sensor utility may not be unusable. The concept however of hot-key functionality on the sides of the display is wonderful. I could see user-programible capacitance switches at the corners of either side of the screen. A light touch would activate anything from turning on Exposé to launching an application. Michael
WOW! That's pretty damn cool. How about having it switch between your OS X and your XP with a slap of the screen? THAT would be truly innovative.
@Falconfire: yeah, you can turn down the sensitivity.
@djheath: you can get it for free if you have a mac...
