New Yorkers aren't the only ones getting robbed as they stand in line for a PlayStation 3. In Connecticut, two "thugs" robbed a line of PS3 campers at gunpoint Friday night. When one 21-year-old line-stander tried to fight back, the dudes shot him in the chest and shoulder.
The guy's in stable condition, but the masked gunmen are still on the loose, and are expected to pen a book in about ten years titled If I Did It: The PS3 Robberies.
Thugs shoot man in PS3 waiting line [Conn Post - Thanks Desiree!]

Hey, that's not my state.
This actually happened outside a Wall-Mart in Putnam, CT, a town of 9000 according to the article. It's near the border of Mass and RI (I've driven around there a number of times). The guy shot was from Massachusetts and was shuffled back over the border for medical attention at the U of M Medical Center in Worcester.
Not to say us Bay Staters don't have our own crime. =)
Not very bright for robbing a crowd full of witnesses. And very stupid for refusing to give up your cash! What happened to just using your good ole credit card?
Man, you guys are on fire today with the pop culture references.
I don't mean to be the AR guy who enjoys catching typos, but "robbed a line of PS3 CAMERAS at gunpoint Friday night" reads reallllly weird. Have a pleasant weekend.
over a damn video game...
Besides that, who the hell carries cash anymore?
I figure most of the people in line were using some sort of credit card/debit card. What kind of person would carry that much cash in their wallet (especially knowing they will be camping in the exact same spot for days)
Also, not very bright for the gunmen to rob a line of PS3 camera's. :) Also, not very bright of them to rob a group of 50-60 or even more people. Especially if half of them are angry at not being able to get a PS3. I think it would be the robber that has it in for him/herself at that point.
This happened in Putnam, Connecticut. The guy that got sht was from Massachusetts. The Walmart is about 15 minutes from where I grew up. Yay!

Putnam is a rough town. It's one of those dying mill towns with a nice side and a bad side. My brother lived on the bad side of Putnam and in the apartment complex where he lived, he had a prostitute on one side and a dealer on the other. It was a survival game. Lots of welfare and abuse. Not pretty.
Kinda gives you a perspective on things, possibly on the lives of the two teens that did this.
Its getting to the point you have to be packing to do a console camp... sheesh! Glad I've got my Sig Sauer... let some thug try to rob me... and to the person that said just give over the money? I'd rather die, then get walked on by some thug... Thugs rely on that mentality of just hand it over... enough people fight back and guess what Thugs will start thinking twice!
In honor of Gerald Levert, "Pop Pop Pop Pop Goes my 9". I mean am I the only who saw this coming. They need armored trucks just for a system release now. truly sad.
Pop Pop
"Pop pop pop Goes my 9" over a dam system, I think they should deliever the next shipment in an armored truck.
Damn right - it's not about the money it's about the principle. I'm surprised someone else in the crowd wasn't packing though, don't all people from Connecticut carry hand guns these days? Connecticut is just like Texas right? But colder. And with Clam Chowder.
The worst part? The guy got taken to the hospital, so no PS3!
If I'm waiting in the line, I'm using the napkin from my McGriddle as a tourniquet and staying in that line. "Oh you had to bundle up? dude, I was bleeding from my chest for this PS3."
you're damn right we pack in CT, haha. I have a XD 40 for just the situation, it's the funniest state. Half the state are upperclass, working people who pack because the other half of the state are welfare driven thugs, packing to get their money from the upperclass. (i'm middleclass, so i've got to watch my back and my front!!!)
i sent you guys that post too, crazyness what people will do. actually because of all this me and my cousin have agreed to wait in line for the Wii and aiming to buy it for not myself, but i plan on selling it if i get one. WWJD ? yea, he'd sell it too.
Aren't these things traceable? My 360 shows its serial number (and I'm sure it's sent to the mothership when I'm on Live). I don't think it should be hard for Sony to figure out *who* has the stolen PS3s by just looking for the serial on their online service.
Yeah Sunin, die for money, you'll be gone and maybe take some peoples lives with you,but at least they won't get the...oh yeah you'll be dead and they get the money anyway.
Is it just me or is there a mass hysteria going on over a game console? Both from the media side covering something that's not really that important, and people who are willing to risk and disrupt their lives, living like bums on a sidewalk over what they might make selling it? You know a the credit card hackers are buying these things and you might get totally screwed if you sell it on Ebay?
There is a thing called a chargeback that happens weeks after you sell something to a person who uses a phony credit card. It's amazing to see what happens when greed and the obsession over video games mixes, it's like a feeding frenzy.
Even if you live like a bum for a week risking it, then selling it you're going to run into the credit card thieves when selling anything electronic on Ebay. Ah screw it, let them learn the hard way.
If you're gonna stand in the street for a couple of days armed with money and cheetos, you are just asking for it.
Not sure what is more ridiculous.. The fact that dudes robbed someone in front of a crowd, or that the idiot risked his life trying to fight back over a video game console.
you are so wrong for that pic.... LOL
