Microsoft XNA Home Game Developer Kit Available For Download

microsoftxna.jpgThe XNA Game Studio Express, a developer pack that will allow you to make home-brew games for the Xbox 360 and the PC, is available for Beta download. Unfortunately this version only supports Windows XP SP2 and not Xbox 360 or Windows Vista. But, it's a good start to get your feet wet with game development, gearing up for the Xbox 360 compatible version at the end of the year.

Oh, and did we mention this is free?

  • Boy, I sure "hope" that "nobody" uses this to figure out how to run "bad" kinds of previously "unsigned" software. And I sure "hope" that it "doesn't" include "downloaded" and "illegal" game disc images. ;)

  • annex....
    A. this is the windows only version
    B. Their are gonna be some major restrictions on what the xna can do on the xbox... and i can imagine since this is the "home developer" version it will be even more restricted, its not gonna exactly be a xbox xdk

  • No, I understand that, but these tools in the right hands will allow a lot more people to understand a lot more about the console.

  • Couldn't someone make an internet browser "game" for the 360?
