Geneva L and XL All-in-One Speaker

I'm going to give these guys props for making something that I would actually want in my living room, unlike certain white boxes with handles and iPod ports we've all seen.

The 600W XL and 100 W L systems have iPod docks and built-in speakers along with an FM tuner, CD player, and cool front panels with a little LED readout that pops up the current input status. Classy. They're available now for $1,075 and $599 for the XL and L models respectively.

  • I don't know, it's kind of giving off a late 60's speaker vibe as far as looks go.

  • The photo is a bit deceptive. If you click on the link for the Model XL (pictured above) you'll really see how thick the unit is. By taking the photo from the front, it looks a lot more sleek and elegant than it really is.

its like a giant amp on a pole... but its white... so i guess that makes it high tech...

  • Almost 16" thick, This thing is bigger than my t.v.

At that price, I'd prefer a little more stereo separation.

  • Yeah, wait a minute, I know you apple fanboys are whack with irrational exuberance and everything, but IT'S A SINGLE BOX!!! You might recall that 73 YEARS AGO they came out with the concept of TWO boxes. Some of us PC users kind of like 6, 7, or 8 boxes of sound in a room. This is a joke, right? Someone is putting us on with an early april fool's joke about an $1100 boom box that's all box, I hope.

  • Hideous. As was mentioned before, the only way this would fit in with your home is if your decor was 70's throwback... I think they have got it wrong personally.

  • 7,8 boxes around the room - with CABLES and everything, that is so awfully backwards... on the website they indicate some electronic stereo simulation, actually I like everything that reduces things to simplicity.

  • iPod atop Geneva thing proclaims: "Behold, my massive grey nipple with matching square areola!"

  • I think the Ipod Video should have something like that, but have a big arsed TV on the front!

  • The Geneva Labs iPod speaker system is nice looking unit. Too bad my order of the L model took over 4 months to ship, then I received a product with a hardware issue. It took me a little while to notice it and report - 36 days after the ship date. Now I have to pay up to send it back and be repaired. Hard to believe some of these companies will admit to shipping a DOA, but then shield themselves with their warranty agreement. Sure, legally they might be in the right, but that doesn't make for a satisfied customer.

As long as I'm venting, let me point out that this unit is soley controlled by a remote. It doesn't allow for any navigation of the iPod itself, which is pretty lame from a usability perspetive. I think there's a bit more hype wrapped around this overpriced, malfunctioning device.
