If the Comcast guy falling asleep on a guy's couch wasn't enough to get the company to warn their techs NOT to fall asleep on the job, this surely will.
Apparently, a Garden City family had a Comcast contractor fall asleep on their son's bed, and when woken up by the youngster, the guy just "proceeded to lay there and fall asleep again." Comcast of course apologized and said this:
Comcast has reached out to the customer to apologize for the unsatisfactory experience. We have been in direct contact with the customer and have restored his services to his satisfaction. We obvioously do not condone what was represented in the photograph. The individual involved is no longer performing work for Comcast.

i want to leave but i have a txt package what do i say?
oops wrong one supposed to be for sprint one...
I heard this is what happened with the guy hired to fix the comments glitch.
The individual involved is no longer performing work for Simmons® mattresses.
I guess their techs are as excited about the service as I am. I want DirecTV!
Comcast service in Detroit is even worse then other places. You continually have techs show up at the very end of the window, or even 15 minutes after, then work for another two hours.
Thank whoever is upstairs we also have WoW for cable in most areas of the city. I've got them, instead of comcast, and they allow for 2 hour windows for service calls, such as next week when I have my phone service installed and they're coming between 10-12.
And screw comcast for saying 'he's a contractor, not an actual employee.' because they're all contractors. I hope this guy gets outed, as well as whatever contractor service hired him. Hope he gets fired too.
not only can comcast not spell, but they also dont realize that broadcasting a hdtv resolution anti-drug ad to standard def service doesnt work.
Comcast sucks, and my family would have something else had a few nasty words spouted to a CS rep resulted in slashed internet bills.
comcast came to put in digital cable last week... didnt bother to hook the vcr back into the setup... cost me two trips to radioshack to be able to record again... never mind id much rather have directv and tivo...
lucky. i want to get verizon fiber optic
I used to have Comcast but switched to Wow for all my services. I still have sh*tty 60k up speed. But if I still had Comcast and some tech fell asleep in my house (really WTF???) and I could complain enough to get a free month of service out of them I would have a tech over every month.
Of course I'm sure all the families got was a form letter stating that they were sorry.
I left Comcast because their service sucked, but if this happened in my house I would get drunk and then throw my TV at him and claim he broke is while at my house.
Who knows, large crappy ISPs hate lawsuits.
And ya I know I would lose that one.

Yea dude when they installed my DVR they for some reason disconnected everything thing and plugged it in using a coxial cable, despite it being an hdtv. He also failed to notice the switch taht was right in front of my TV, nor did they leave any cables which I know should have came with the reciever. If I had been there i would have raised hell. My roomates are girls so they didnt know any better. Though I called comcast and bitched for like 2 minutes and they refunded all the installation fees.
Yea, bagellord in with you. When verizon FIOS is availible from coast to coast comcast will finally be out of business. Everyone will rejoice.
"My roomates are girls so they didn't know any better." Of course not.
I've heard of Goldilocks falling asleep in the three bears house, but this is insane!
Oh give em a break, their contractors/employees/whatever are just trying to give you a preview of how fast/reliable the internet will be by trying to emulate it as best they can.
the poor guy's had a horrid night ,
sleep on mate !!
Two things to all of you :
1) They're install techs. Doesn't matter what comapny they work for, they're ALWAYS going to suck, and it has very little to do with Comcast that they do. If you don't know how to hook up your HDTV yourself, what are you doing on Gizmodo? Shouldn't you be playing with some safety scissors?
2) I've had nothing but good things from Comcast. They're slightly overpriced, but my internet is much faster than the other options, so worth the extra price, and I haven' thad service issues in the 7 years I've had Comcast internet. Their HDTV beats out my buddy's DirecTV setup, and certainly beats out my friends' RCN setup. I don't know anyone with FIOS yet so I can't compare to that, but considering what's out there, even t hough it's not the fashionable cool thing to do, I gotta say Comcast has done just great.
If he fell asleep on the job, I would put his hand in warm water.
BTW - don't people watch service workers like a hawk when they come over. Whenever *local utility company* comes over to my place the only time I'm not looking over their shoulder is when they are in their own van driving away.
Geisrud -
Then you'd have piss on your bed.
Seriously, one time a comcast guy showed up and burst into apartment and asked where the bathroom was. He was in there for 45 minutes, doing god knows what. After he left I put on a biohazard suit and emptied a bottle of bleach in there.
You would have piss on your bed, however you would also have free service for a long time.
>I've had nothing but good things from Comcast.
Is that so? I've had Comcast for the last 5 years, and I've been less than impressed (unfortunately, other options are limited, until Verizon Fiber starts offering tv in a couple months).
In the time that we've had their service, we've had 2 cable boxes die for no apparent reason, monthly service outages on tv, internet or both, often lasting for several hours, or even a full day. And most recently, we keep losing the audio feed from the television (on all tvs, so I know it's not my set).
When our last box died, the techs came out and replaced it. The replacement couldn't tune in HD channels, and regular channels had green bars that constantly flashed across them. I called the office back to request yet another replacement, and the woman treats me like a.) I have no idea how to use the damn thing to begin with and b.) its my fault that the box doesn't work (even though no one besides the installing tech had actually touched it).
The best part was that when we got the other replacement, the DVR was already full of the previous subscriber's recordings...
And I'm paying $115 for this nonsense?
At least none of them have fallen asleep in my bed yet...
We've been saying for years that we're only sticking with Comcast until another viable option comes along. Fortunately, that looks to be pretty soon.
"The individual involved is no longer performing work for Comcast." ... he wasn't performing work before, either. The real question is whether he's still employed by Comcast.
My brother in law works for Direct TV he takes his daily crapper in thier house and then sometimes falls asleep on the john.
That is just freakin bizzare.
"The individual involved is no longer performing work for Comcast."
Um, but he's still employed there, right? Like he was performing work for comcast while he was sleeping.
