Nintendo fans: Tired of your PSP-totin' buddies giving you grief for not having multimedia on your gaming handheld of choice? Well fret no more, because Nintendo has rebranded their Play-Yan multimedia device for the Gameboy Micro. It works by streaming data from an SD card through the Micro. The player supports MP3 and MPEG4, and comes bundled with Media Stage 4.2 and PC software for converting and organizing content, which will be rendered meaningless if you can't read Japanese.
The big news though, is that with this $79.90 device, you can now convert TiVo ToGo video files to ASF MPEG4 and transfer them to the Micro, using the same software and methods that Dave Zatz used to transfer video to the PSP a few months ago.

the play-yan micro is great! with the mario 'skin' combined with this tivo-to-go, it's definitely fashionable (while remaining functional). using it as an mp3 player is a little better, however, because the screen is small.
now THIS is an awesome idea. this is about the size of something i want to carry on an airplane to watch movies on instead of lugging around my giant laptop... how's the battery life with this though? is it like 4 minutes of video? :)
the battery life is pretty good from what i've tested (mostly with mp3's), and the length of video depends on the size of the sd card you use. as far as i know, the current firmware supports up to 1gb. the playback time is greater than the psp's as it's a much smaller screen.
