Woooow...how does this even stay in/on one's wrist??? Please tell me there isn't a hole on the other side of his/her arm...
That is totally F-ing hardcore. It would suck to clip that watch on something...it'll pull the whole watch outta ur wrist...EEEEEEEEEEWWWWW.......
Impressive, but sticks out from the wrist too much to be really practical. You don't want to get it caught on anything...
Remember that other device that punctures holes in your fingernails? I can't find a link, but it's even more disturbing.
Yo brif,
Looks to be a set of surface piercings (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Surface_piercing) with the watch face is clipped on between the balls that cap the two studs. Did that sound dirty? I used to have several surface piercings and from experience I can say that they would not hold that much weight for long.
Imagine getting mugged for your watch
gravity assists wonderfully in hoaxes
That's going to be fun when it comes time to replace the battery. Seriously if you're going to go this route choose a more appropriate watch. Then again if your going to do something entirely impractical then you might as well do it to something impractical for the situation.
Whose life is so banal and slow that they'd be sitting in Starbucks and think to themselves, "hey! Maybe I'll just pierce my watch to my wrist!"
WHY?!?!!!111?!?!!
Somehow the pierced eyeglasses linked to on the original page itself seems even -more- disturbing to me ... ow ow ow ow ow.
Either way, I wonder what else can be affixed to a person like that? Could I get a laptop pierced to my lap or a nice snazzy mouse pierced through my hand? Gosh, I would be so cool ...
Ooh, a watch from Claire's. That's high class. I think if I was going to get my wrist pierced (not happening), I'd at least get a good watch. Geez.
And how would one sleep with a watch face sticking off their wrist?
I'd rather have a subdermal LCD. Or maybe a subdermal magent to hold the watch on - at least then it would be interchangeable.
Thats gross, stupid and stupid. Did i mention it was gross?
i would just sew LCD into my skin.
embedded magnet?
Actually, I have an improvement on the design: get a subdermal implant of a magnet. Have watch back made of magnetic metal.
Cool beans.
Or not.
Duh - jonny beat me to it as I was typing. You got a camera over my shoulder or what?
ow.
Thus was the birth of an entirly new misunderstood group, the "suicide-nerd"
Just kill yourself.
I get shivers thinking about how it'd be like to put my hands in my pockets with that thing in the way...
Not to mention, how many times a day do you suppose this sort of thing happens: "Dude, no way is that thing stuck in your wrist! Lemme see! *YANK*"
Well, that's what -I- would need to do if I encountered him, at any rate ...
lol Great read! Need more of this!
That's just plain scary. I've seen the fingernail hole thing, but that one's for attaching stuff with jumprings to make you look pretty. But this one really takes the cake! Rrrriipp...*bleedbleedbleed*
Yeeow. And that's a nice cheap watch, too. So the idiot who attached it to his/her arm will not only have the studs rip out first time he/she tries to put his/her arm down a tight sleeve, but get a nice oozing patch of nickel-allergy under the watch as well.
I've long since come to the conclusion that about 99% of the people who send photos to BMEzine are just flaming nuts. (Um, yeah, because someone told me about the pictures in BMEzine, yeah, that's the ticket.)
What.
The.
F-BLEEP-!!!
Pierced wrist watch is childs play.
Prince Albert - That is Hard CoRe!
I choose neither.
Thats gonnna suck when it gets ripped off.
I always knew there was something wrong with people who wore wristwatches. My time stays where it belongs, in my pocket and away from my skin.
Like Big B said above.... I'll believe this when she turns her write upside down. Right now it just looks like someone removed the wristband from a watch and rested it on their wrist, letting gravity hold it there. Just sitting at my desk I could pretend to pierce lots of things to my wrist. "Look, I pierced my mouse to my wrist!" "Look a bunch of pens! Pierced to my wrist!"
Silly.
Are Penn and Teller lurking close by?
Second witeowl, having an implanted magnet would be a lot more versatile (could stick other things to it) and safer. Problem so far is that people are having issues with the silicone coatings of the magnets breaking down, and neodymium isn't a good friend to living tissue.
That, and you'd never be able to pick up a hard drive ever again. =D
LOL!!! So funny, I was on this website last night looking through their 'explicit' section....pretty interesting stuff...give it a gander (so long as you're not eating) :X!
I'm still waiting for a wristwatch made entirely out of hairs and freckles.
(Fumbles with large sharp sticks)
I KNOW I can get my laptop pinned to my chest!
Should have used one of those mega thin skagen watches i dont like.
What do you do when the battery dies?
This is just dumb.
Is it just me or is the watch in different positions in the two pictures? Also, note the positions of the freckles. Either way, I am dearly hoping this isn't real.
Someone balances a watch on their wrist and it gets a hundred posts? God, we all need to get lives.
Magnets are bad to keep as a "pick stuff up/stick stuff on" implant - the pressure from a magnet constantly squeezing the skin will kill the skin, making it unpractical, particularly for strong(neodymium) magnets.
From that implant page:
"The attractive strength was however enough that it became apparent that extended wear of such an attachment would almost certainly cause tissue death in the compressive zone above the implants, and would result in eventual rejection. This left me with the conclusion that magnetic implant device attachment is not terribly viable, and I haven't pursued the idea much since."
The article goes on to describe different encasings they've tried, but those are still experimental for now.
A much more interesting use was putting magnets in fingertips to add a "sixth sense".
