Pattern Clock

 - GizmodoHating life? Want to hate it more? Pick up the Pattern Clock, an alarm clock that won't turn off unless you repeat a Simon-like pattern of lights by pressing a series of buttons. The goal is to create an alarm that will definitely wake you up out of your torpid slumber and/or drive you crazy in the process.

They're manufacturing these soon, but you can sign-up for a pre-order. If you're a heavy sleeper, this might do the trick. It might also make you mad.

  • dont see how this solves anything, I have been known to just sleep through alarms. neat idea but I doubt it will help people who sleep through or turn off alarms in their sleep anyway. A better idea might be to just put a really nasty alarm on the other side of the room so you HAVE to get up to turn it off

  • Clocks like these would cause me to unplug them.

  • This is similar to the clock where you must complete a four-piece jigsaw puzzle to turn it off.

  • Clocks like these would cause me to unplug them It probably has battery with a cover held in place with a phillips screw, a torx screw, a flat-head screw, and an allen screw.

  • This would last just long enough for me to go to the garage and get my hammer ...

  • Yeah, you would definitely need to have a non-removable battery backup. On second hand, make it removable with four screws- one torx, one flat head, one phillips and one allen and that should wake you up.

  • Why doesn't someone invent an alarm clock that makes me want to get up in the morning? Maybe a Jessica Simpson clone that starts singing at a specified time every morning, and I have to get up and go have my way with her until she shuts the hell up.

Clock on the other side of the room? Doesn't work, I get up, walk to the other side of the room, throw all the stuff I've put in front of the clock onto the floor, turn the clock off, and crash on my bed again, falling asleep within seconds. I want one of these.

  • Clock across the room is a problem for those of us who wear glasses too - we can't read the clock in the groggy drousiness... sometimes an issue if something other than the alarm wakes you up... or seeing how long until the alarm goes off for a few more minutes of sleep.
