Not a fan of vomiting? Cruise goers (cruisineers?) can now use a wristwatch-like band that dispenses gentle shocks to your arm in order to trick your inner-ear into thinking you're on solid land.
Five settings of relief are available to soothe your motion sickness. Available for $100, the "watch" comes with two 3-volt batteries and a tube of gel so you don't burn your skin. Oh, and it doesn't actually tell time.

Mythbusters tried these out, either that or something similar. It didn't work.
I've been using this for years and found it an enormous help on boat trips. I used to get naseated quite easily, but find that the reliefband seems to ward off the worst effects. Certainly better than dramamine. Worth a try for those who haven't had luck with ginger or other traditional remedies.
I'm sure Mythbusters testing it on all of two people proves oh so conclusively that this doesn't work. Mythbusters, reinventing the scientific method since 2003.
Have one. Works entirely as advertised. I tried it out for the first time recently on a 3 week tour which included two plane flights (between the US and Turkey, so they were long), two boat rides (both many hours long), and over 2 weeks of riding in a bus. All of these have made me sick in the past. When I started feeling sick I put on this wrist band. Symptoms went away after a few minutes. Maybe it's placebo, but I don't care, it still works for me! :)
And one of the Mythbusters' subjects was proven to be susceptible to placebos, so his results had to be completely thrown out. In any case, yes, this may work or it may not. In either case, it's only relevant to people who actually suffer from motion sickness. And even if it's useless, if you fall for placebos, this could work for you. My advice: take Ginger pills. It really is phenomenal stuff, and it's probably cheaper in the long run.
I could just use a couple 9 volt batteries and some duct tape to mimic this device, no? ooh, or maybe a car battery and you can help 10 people at once...
To just reiterate the results of the mythbuster test: Ginger Pills.
Scopalamine patches (behind the ear - prescription only) work wonders too. Ah, better living through chemistry.
awesome. now i can finally watch Saving Private Ryan, Breaking the Waves, and the Blair Witch Project without getting sick.
