iPatch: Covering the Prying Eyes of Big Brother

If you feel like somebody's watching you when you're using that iMac or MacBook Pro, the iPatch iSight lens cover will make sure Big Brother isn't keeping tabs on your stuff. Available in four colors, this little piece of plastic fits right over that lens, and there is also an adhesive sticker to permanently cover up the camera for those workplaces where no cameras are allowed. Sure, when it's not turned on, no one can see anything through the iSight, can they? Well, can they?

  • What is it about Apple products that makes people produce this kind of crap. Next they'll be making ones with little messages on the inside that the camera viewer can see...like, "Thanks for viewing me!"

  • Actually, for the second reason cited (secure facilities), it's not a bad idea. It looks a LOT better than tape, and it doesn't cost all that much ... For the first reason, it is a little overboard, though :P

  • this was made for people feeling nervous and guilty about cranking one out to porn thinking someone is watching them make the O-face through the camera

  • Is it Zeke? Really? So you're saying that you aren't sitting there in cupid boxers and a w00t t-shirt drinking your morning latte? And...is that a Britney Spears poster I see on your back wall??

  • the iMarch of iCrap iContinues

  • iKnow!!!

  • for mynext trick, i will invent "tape"

  • I just use Hubba Bubba.

  • "What is it about Apple products that makes people produce this kind of crap." What is it about computers that makes people produce crap? Or are you going to lay USB cup warmers and blue LED-festooned fans at Apple's feet too?

  • Why would an office that doesn't allow cameras for security reasons allow a camera covered by a cheap rubber lens cap? Couldn't a not-so-scrupulous employee simply remove the cover and take pictures of all sorts of trade secrets?

  • mid market media = god of 1337 h4ks

  • And they're rockin' the 70s earth tones. Good for them!

  • I totally agree . . . we haven't had any problems in the past with the government spying on us, or telephone calls, anything like that. In fact, to the best of my knowledge, the government has never asked innocent people to spy on innocent people, has never suggested that the mere utterance of words is sedition (or passed a law against it!), has never tapped telephone calls, has never abused its power . . .. Oh, wait a second . . . there was that Sedition Act, that whole Watergate thing (you know, the wiretapping, spying, IRS audits, threats, that little thingy), oh and that one incident in the 50s, McCarthyism . . . and that should be it -- I guess the government has changed it's evil wa-- oops. Forgot about the whole NSA illegal spying on citizens thing . . . hmm . . .. I sure hope the gov't *can* do it, though, because there's probably a lot to learn that way. Get a pic of that guy searching for child porn on the internet . . . or those guys who were taking pictures of the security around the pentagon and ordering suspicious chemicals? I sure hope they can do it. And for those of you out there who agree . . . a whole lot of laptops come with built in microphones . . ..

  • I found this on their website... Coming soon from the makers of iPatch: Introduing the new iSolator. Simply use our patented Clothespin to extricate your computer power plug from the wall and thus maintain the highest standard of security in the industry. Expexted release: Quarter 2 2006 for $100 Not really, but how many more companies can try to wring profits from Apple's success?

  • there's only one way to stop the iCrap: don't buy any of it. i am entitled to make iAnything i want, you have the option to buy it or not. it's really quite simple.
