I'm a little late to the Sonicare party, but hot damn if these aren't great. I just picked one up last week and already my mouth feels cleaner than it's ever been before—even after a dentist's visit. It vibrates faster than Michael J. Fox after a coke binge back when he was alive—wait, what do you mean he's not dead? Apologies, Mr. Fox.
So, what do our readers think of the Sonicare? Do you guys love it as well, or do you lean more towards Oral-B? And do you have any tips/hacks on using or cleaning it? Let us know what you think in the comments.

I think its an issue of cost, without looking it up, i believe the sonic care brand is more expensive than Oral-B. I love my electric tooth brush and would hate to go back to the oldschool masterbation method.
I personally like the SoniCare, but... at 6am, it is so god damn noisy it could wake up the whole house, neighborhood, and town.
For something that is sonic, it sure is noisy.
But, as for clean teeth, this thing is like top notch.
I've used Sonicare for a while and like it a lot. I brush longer with Sonicare than I did with a regular toothbrush because there is less manual manipulation--just hold it against your teeth, instead of scrubbing. I've never used the Oral-B one.
I still like my enamel eroding CyberSonic II brush running at 41,000 Strokes per minute. Comes with 2 brush heads, a flosser attachment, whitening gel and a tongue scraper that makes you bleed.. No pain no gain I guess x)
michael j fox drinking coke? i think not. he's a pepsi man as sure as i'm a sonicare man.
Make fun of ethnic groups and women all you want, Chen. But making fun of people with Parkinsons, that's just fucked up.
There was a post on Healthbolt a few weeks back about toothbrushes.

It was a dentist basically saying that it doesn't matter what electric toothbrush you use, because the benefit of an electric is that most have a timer which makes you more likely to brush for the recommended two minutes.
Oh, and I'll go ahead and second that, Travis.
I've always wanted something like the Sonicare but price was always a factor. I ended up getting the Oral B CrossAction Power Max and it works really well. It's rechargeable (a standard charge is supposed to last up to 14 days and I've gone at least 7 without charging and brushing at least twice a day for at least two minutes at a time) and you can get replacement heads. The heads last waaaaay longer than the standard toothbrush too. You can get this thing at Target or your local drug store for around $13.

I also found the dig at M.J. Fox beneath the usual snarkiness I enjoy on Gizmodo.
I agree. You crossed a line with the Micheal J. Fox stuff. Why not go with, say, Courtney Love detoxing?
Ok, ok, point taken.
damn, I guess I'll keep my Katharine Hepburn tie-in jokes to myself then. GAWD.
It's simple really...
Good person + chance illness = don't go there
Bad person + chance illness = fair game
Bad person + self imposed illness/situation = tear 'em up
I like my crest spinbrush, sure it isnt fancy like those sonicare or oral b, but it only cost me $4!!
Sonicares are great but I can't help but notice that the Giz is going down hill. What's up with oral hygiene, Michael J. Fox and Parkinson's? What about dangerous toys, Angelina Jolie and hangovers?
They're right about MJ by the way.
My wife and I both have the same model Sonicare (gotta love Costco). This version doesn't have that annoying back plate behind the vibrating head, so it's super quiet.
Never used either. I use the manual method. Hell I don't even know the name of the toothbrush I use. Are you supposed to pay attention to this type of stuff?
By the way, everyone is fair game. Michael J. Fox, Oprah, the kid that made all the three pointers at the basketball game, Snoop Dogg, Shania Twain, Luciano Pavarotti, Hellen Keller, Brian Liam.
If anything he should be shot for the joke not being funny, not because of Mr. Teen Wolf.
I am there for you Jason, anytime you need me!
Brown-noser.
i hate oral b. there cheapass toothbrushes always start to not work after a month then there's another month-long preiod where it slowly descends into the realm of brokeness. after 2 months, u have yourself a toothbrush that has all the functionality of a rock. this has happened to me like 3 or 4 times. and no i dont keep buying them, my mom does
Jumping in late here.
Comparing the Sonicare to a Spin Brush or any other electric tooth brush is like comparing a bottle of Chateau Margaux with a bottle of Boones.
On the topic of keeping the Sonicare clean I brush in the shower and I've found taking off the brush top, rinsing and setting it aside to dry out between uses works wonders. This eliminates the science project that grows under there if you don't clean regularly. If you have one and you haven't cleaned under there in a while do your self a favor and buy a new brush head and change it without looking under there. Blek!
The timer is great and the brush functions great.
But I've had mine for a year and it is pretty crusty. They should make the next version brown/green colored so that the handle still looks like new after a year of use...
My wife has the Oral B from Costco and she loves it. She takes it on all trips, even camping, and the thing never dies. It will get a little funky near the head connector if you don't run some hot water over it every once in a while though.
BrianB: Your criteria is flawed because Good Person v. Bad Person is pretty subjective, unless you're talking about someone who is completely Mr. Burnsesque.
If we as posters continue to try to take the writers to task just because we may not find their attempts at humor neither fun nor funny, the writers will begin to self-censor. That is never a good thing.
Don't be such a girl Chen, you obviously thought it was funny at the time you wrote it, so stick to your guns.
I thought it was amusing. Does this mean karma is going to get me? Well I'm still waiting for Yoko to get hers for breaking up the Beatles so I think I'm probably safe.
