We just mentioned the Creative Xmod earlier this week - a go-between for you speakers and digital audio source that supposedly enhances sound to "beyond original CD quality". While not planned for release until next month, some pictures have already hit the Internet.
Here is the Xmod next to a Vasoline coated Samsung YP-K5 (the poor man's iPod vs Zune shot). Hit the jump for more pictures of what looks to be a completely unnecessary complication to my already over-corded existence. And for those who actually believe in this product, please note that Creative labels their technology as "Xtreme".
Thanks Chanditha!

XTREME TO THE MAXXXXX. anyway i thought once you downgrade audio thers no way of increasing bit rate, quailty etc. so really is this just adding effects over the audio.
Who cares what it looks like! I just want to know if it works. Though I seriously doubt it.
Ahh, I love the smell of Snake Oil in the morning....
Smells like... Marketing!
X-this X-that... what gives?
"Come right up, folks! This here's a potion from the far east of east as in eastern lands thataway. You mam, come here, rub this over those lobes of yours and behold, be gobsmacked, by the sheer delight of tonal frquencies never before heard of coming out of your iPlod."
Don't worry hisham, thanks to Microsoft, Z will zoon be the new cool letter.
If they had thought about this and included one feature they would've really made the audiophiles interested - a headphone amp. Some really nice headphones require more power to push, and can really benefit from an inline amp. Most run off just a couple of batteries, and supposedly help out a bit. This thing is silly, only marketed to XTREME morons that will likely use the stock headphones/buds with 128kbps mp3s.
Honestly though, how is this a leak, it's been on the Creative website for a couple of weeks now. It has it's own microsite...
Go apple lossless or aiff or gtho! I really wish trent revor (NIN) would sue creative for the bull statements about this things audio ability. Ever sence the realease of the x series creative has become the new Bose. Take something crappy, equalize the hell out of it and say it sounds good. If you want a good sound card get a auzentech card. They are VASTLY superior.
How is this a leaked picture? When Cnet gets the iriver clix the day its annouced and reviews it, is that a leak too? I don't think so. It's simply a review unit. People act like X-Fi hasn't been around for over a year already.
There are many consumers who noticed a vast improvement in sound. This is made with consumers in mind. Their claims are certainly exaggerated, but if this device puts out sound like an X-Fi card, then I think I'd be pleased.
Claims are absolutely ridiculously crazily exaggerated. I pity anybody who actually buys this thing.
