LG, while they seem to disappear from the radar for months at a time, has popped back up to unveil the 17-inch LX76D and 19-inch LX96D LCDs. These displays are kind of strange because they carry a handful of high end specs, including a 2000:1 contrast ratio, 300cd/m2 brightness and 2ms response time, but then it has a very limp 1280x1024 native resolution. No word on price or available, but you can always stare at the model posing with these LCDs to hold you off.

This is more than likely a way to match Samsung's own 931BF which has the 2000:1 contrast ratio and 2ms response time. Not to high anymore, and if this one is anything like the Samsung, it doesn't look that much different in picture quality, the only difference is the glossy bezel.
I like the "Model in the Factory" motif they got going there.
The base is sexy! I like the sharp angled look of the upside down triangle.
I don't have an issue with 1280x1024, but I'm wondering if the surface of the screen is flat or glossy? Hopefully flat..
My only complaint is that the bezel/plastic around the actual panel is a little thick. I've been spoiled by my Samsung! =)

They are trying to do something about that; that is why they almost always put pretty models in their marketing pictures.
1,280 x 1,024 does seem rather unremarkable for a desktop display these days--especially for a 19" model. I would like to see more resolutions like that on smaller displays, though, such as smaller-than-usual secondary desktop displays (e.g., for creative application palettes) and PDA touch-screens.
OK Travis, I'm staring at the model as you instructed. Why do I feel compelled to mail her a sammich? Is she the korean Nicole Ritchie?
Yellow fever. Enough said.
A 19" with 1024x768? I was running that resolution during the Clinton Administration. Even Walmart carries higher end than that, not impressive. They will probably end up being bundled with a budget PC to get rid of them when they discover what's on the store shelves these days.
