Just as we predicted last week, here it is July 31st and LG's Chocolate VX8500 phone is now available on the Verizon website. The good news is that with a two-year contract Verizon is doling out a $50 online discount, bringing the price of admission down to $149.99, $50 less than we thought it might be.
Buy it online now or wait until August 7 where it will be available in retail stores. Oh yeah, and if you're only willing to commit yourself for one year with Verizon, the coveted LG Chocolate phone will cost you $100 more, at $249.99. Either way, that's just one purdy phone, what with it being all black and chocolate-y and all.

OMG TOUCH SENSITIVE BUTTONS AND A CONTRACT FROM THE SATAN OF WIRELESS CARRIERS?!
SIGN ME UP!
does anyone have a clue as to signal reception... what with this being a phone and all?... or maybe I'm just old and silly and reception on cellphones no longer matters.
wow, cheaper than I've ever expected.
Danno, Verizon still has the best coverage in my area of the country. Sure, they don't hide the fact that they want to make money, but I'd rather know I'm dealing with smart, reliable slimeballs then an unreliable service with a happy bouncy orange guy!
Froggy, I have no idea on this phone, but I know my RAZR works in elevators, parking garages, and basements. Different animal, but one of the reasons Verizon has less of a selection of phones is that they require a certin level of reception quality. Until recently, they wouldn't stock phones with entirely internal antennas. I'm assuming this will be as good, if not better then, what the RAZR has shown me.
Of course, take everything I say with the grain of salt that I live in Detroit, where Verizon is king of coverage. I've heard it's not so good in other locations, such as San Jose, CA, and the two years I lived in Baltimore, MD have memories of worse service then I experiance in the Great Lakes State.
I'm glad VZW is supporting MP3 with this phone; hopefully this bodes well for other upcoming (KRZR) phones.
...I've had Verizon for 7 years, in 5 major cities, (and a couple not so major, heh) and now here in Chicago, I have the Verizon broadband on my laptop.
Bottom line, it's not cheap, but what carrier is with my level of use...I have 1300 minutes of anytime, and then free nights/weekends, and then $60.00 for the broadband service (I can use it anywhere, anytime...tho in smaller cities, the speed is reduced to dialup.) My bill averages 180.00 a month, but the service is reliable, and the broadband service is incredible. So meh.
Oh yea, forgot to mention the Navigator service...it kicks ass...it's GPS, and no loss in quality compared to built-in GPS services in cars. (an extra 10.00 a month)
