In case you didn't catch the Diggnation podcast we told you about earlier, here's a video recap of Kevin Rose's iPhone leak. Host Alex Albrecht had to pull teeth to get Rose to talk, but eventually he succeeds and gets Rose to admit that the phone will be running a mini version of OS X and include a slide out keyboard and a touch screen, yet still be "small as shit." Pricing will be $249 for the 4GB model and $449 for the 8GB version. We're only weeks away from knowing the full truth, so you may want to take it with a grain of salt.
Digg Founder Dishes iPhone Specs [via Crave]

Did he really give away anything really, I mean all of this I pretty much got from thinksecret.com .. but whatever.
If you don't have a photo then stop it, because at this point everyone knows there making a phone. It was the normal next move for apple.
I'm sure the phone will be cool, it's what apple does...but if you don't have a picture of it then as far as i'm concern you don't got nothing, but more hype.... Nice Plug for digg.com
So, if its "small as shit," what kind of touchscreen would be practical to use without a stylus?
"...small as shit"? Would that be human shit? Mouse shit or elephant shit? How much shit? I'm confused. That is such a shitty size reference.
I call for a "Sizemodo" comparing a piece of shit to a mock up of the iPhone, to see if his claims are true.
So what's going to happen to the price of the nano now that these are coming out? I mean, why pay $200 for a nano when you can pay $250 for a nano/smartphone.
Sorry man, "Small as Shit" aint that small, if your speaking literaly. I mean my last voyage to the water closet was Epic, I mean like Genisis.
Kevin actually says that he doesn't know what it will run for an OS. He was originally describing a quote submitted to Digg. This of course lead to him letting out what he did know about the phone. In the past he has made some very accurate Apple predictions on his personal blog the night before the announcements. One example would be the Nano. He gave the exact specs the night before the announcement. I haven't seen him make a mistake yet when it comes to apple scoops.
"Small as shit"
"Touchscreen"
Which of these things doesn't belong?
And "crazyglues" - what makes you think this thing will be "cool"? The last "cool" product Apple released was......
Apple produces crippled, over-hyped and dishonestly marketed shit (small or otherwise). I hope to god you're not claiming the iPod is cool, since it's status as "something so mundane that your grandmother's last car came with one as a free giveaway" would seem to preclude that.
Or is it the Desktop or Laptop computers, which are staggeringly underpowered for the price? The hardware thats ALWAYS behind, because of Apple's closed hardware platform? The monitors that lose out in every review not done by an Apple fan?
What is it that is so "Cool" about Apple? I've yet to see it...their design style of "white plastic with clear coat and curves" hasn't changed since the introduction of the iMac, nor has the corporate culture of "Style over substance."
Sorry, the I have no interest in an iPhone. The ability to sync with iTunes pails in comparison to syncing with:
Windows Media Player 11
Tivo Desktop
Outlook
Exchange Servers
Custom .net apps
Lotus
and the countless other applications available for a WM5 device. And just because it plays music doesn't make it a "smartphone" - don't buy into more of Apple's bullshit-marketing.
why on earth would it come out in january, after the Christmas sales season? seems like it would make more sense to speed it up or slow it way down. and how could it be "small", yet still have a worthwhile screen to utilize 3G, which is special because of data from a customer's perspective? methinks someone is lying.
Did someone tell them that beer makes you look cool? It look so stupid, like a 14 year old smoking... so forced.
are they drinking to get information out of him or is he making this shit up because hes drunk?
plus they apparently know nothing about phones... sprint pcs aint a standard, its just cdma... i wanna know if its gsm, cdma, iden, umts...
i really want to believe the two batteries thing...
It would come out in January so that Apple can take advantage of the Christmas season with the current generation of gadgets (ipods) and then continue the frenzy into the year with new gadgets (iphone). This seems like it makes a lot of sense to me (it presumes, probably correctly in this case, that the new gadgets will be "must have" gadgets).
Brad sounds like a died in the wool Microsofty...doesn't care what Apple does because its not Bill Gates branded. But as others know, there ARE alternatives!
PS: it comes out in January because thats when the annual Macworld Expo in San Francisco takes place, January 2007.
Yeah...the beer drinking is so over the top lame. Very Junior High-ish thing to do.
I'd guess the $249/$449 prices are with X-year agreements with the providers.
And to those complaining about him drinking beer... look up "Kevin Rose" on wikipedia... $60m net worth... I think at this point he doesn't give a $#!$ about looking professional.
Wouldn't it be better to have one battery and an OS that allocates 50% to each application or allow a user selectable percentage?
Two things I can't stand all in one: iPhone rumors and that smug ass Kevin Rose.
I'm calling Bullsh**T on all of his comments. "All providers, PCS" ?!?! Your telling me Verizon is going to provide a phone that isn't a stripped down bastardized version of the original? How would a white iphone look with all those ugly red verizon logos?
He may "know stuff" but his whole "I don't know if I should tell you" act is fucking tired. Decide if you're comfortable telling the world what you know or not and move on. Don't play 15-minutes-of-fame masturbation on camera.
Man, no wonder he's poor...
I can take a pretty heafty shit sometimes I think that a better idea would be a conparison with something that maybe has a little less up and down of a variable
can anyone say 'fake'?
this whole interview has been scripted... i mean the beer, the supposidly reluctant talk, the way in which it is filmed...
hmmm... and yet we're meant to believe this interview is some huge revelation.
perhaps he does know something, or perhaps hes just capitalising on the strong rumours more likely to be close to the truth, so that when it is released he wont be mocked for getting it wrong.
I mean he didnt get everything right in his ipod nano prediction... he predicted it, but so did the rumours, he just put a face to it.
That guy is either messing with us, or is a complete jackass. He doesn't seem to know the first thing about cell phones(nobody makes phones for TDMA networks anymore) and his claim that the iPhone will have two batteries is utterly stupid. Two, batteries, a decent size touch screen, a slide out keyboard and still "small as shit"? What an ass clown....
it's funny to read comments on stuff like this because if you've listened to or watched diggnation (or thebroken or systm), you probably wouldn't be making comments on how lame they are for drinking. and what's with everyone taking 'small as shit' as a literal size comparison? and, 'no wonder he's poor'? i don't think you know who or what you're talking about.
as for not wanting to talk about it in detail, it's a simple matter of not wanting to screw your friend over (or possibly out of a job). if a friend of yours broke an nda telling you a secret about his company's product, how likely are you to go and spread the word to the media?
now i'm not saying 'what he says is the final word,' but considering he's got more inside sources than most other people who talk about this stuff, and that he's been on the mark before about apple product, you (commenters) really have no place to talk shit on him.
Well said MobileMilitia!
Hey can we talk about how full of crap Kevin Rose is now?
