First Pictures of the LG Prada Phone

Sure, we've heard that LG is teaming with apparel manufacturer, Prada, for a phone and we have also heard about the LG KE850 touchscreen phone, but who would have thunk these stories would be related? The LG Prada phone that we first told you about last week is actually a rebranded KE850 with a unique Prada interface. This phone will be hitting five European countries this spring, and hopefully be making its way stateside later in the year. Early reports are also suggesting a price tag in the $400 to $500 range. Jump to see a picture of the awfully pretty Prada interface. Images via Dial-a-phone.

  • hmmm. i don't know. i think it would be better without "Dial A Phone" written all over the interface. it's distracting.

  • i bet if vzw gets this. they will slap their crappy OS on it.

  • How much is the regular LG KE850 going for?

Because if past experience counts for anything, then I'm betting this phone is going to cost more than the regular version simply because of the Prada branding. And for what? A phone that says "Prada" in the front and a black & white interface?

Hopefully this phone lets the user opt between a b&w interface and a colored one...

I know it's a bit early to call judgement on this phone but I'm already thinking "blatant designer-name ripoff".

  • Actually this connection was called out by a commenter on the earlier post.

  • But will they work with Manolo Blahnik+ ready boots?

  • Wow, impressive.

Other fashion-branded phones, like the D&G Razer or the Juicy Sidekick, always seemed a flashy overkill that don't seem to capture the style of the brand it represent. THis phone however seems classy, sleek, and seems very Prada. The whole black on shiny black thing is so Prada.

Of course, part of what makes this classy is the OS and the user interface, which will get butchered if it ever comes to the use. No doubt Cingular will stick a orange X on the piano black surface, or Verizon will insist on garishily colored icons for V-Cast be prominently displayed as the first item in the black and white menu.

  • So I assume that we'll be able to buy it unlocked once it's released in europe?

  • LG-PRADA phone, it's common desigh and tech in LG
    not innovative

  • I see absolutely nothing meriting a re-brand. It's a KE850. They slapped the Prada name at the top of the phone and made the interface monochrome? I'm disappointed - I would've bought the phone if it was as revolutionary as they were saying it would be, yes I am a fashion/brand sucker and would've caved. Looks like this isn't happening.

  • It does look similar to the iPhone. I wonder what Apple thinks about this or should it be the other way around? I am confused here.

  • My take on this is that there's only so many ways to build a phone GUI.

That dial screen has been done before on the Pocket PC. ...And isn't that the ONLY screen here that looks like the iPhone?

...Yeah, the buttons on the bottom are similar, but where are the Windows Mobile buttons? At the bottom. Maybe this area is simply the most natural area to use since it's the easiest for the user to access?

    ...Just a thought.

  • Still searching to see if this supports Java (MIDP). No mention so far so maybe it doesn't. I find it hard to believe that the Iphone does not have Java midp installed, so it users can download and use all the thousands of Java applications/games out there. What a shame... they could of done it easy enougth I reckon

Use Java Golf Scorecard software on my Blackberry & Phone... ... and am feeling let down by Apple and Prada :-(

Would of been one over on the Iphone which I still find it hard to believe that it doesn't support Java... so it users can download and use all the thousands of Java applications/games out there. What a shame... surely it would not of been that hard for them to do.
